Thai Ambassador Delivers Special Lecture on Conflict Diplomacy to Students at the American University in Cairo (AUC)
On 29 October 2026, H.E. Mr. Thanawat Sirikul, Ambassador of Thailand to Egypt, delivered a special lecture entitled « Thailand and Conflict Diplomacy in MENA: Thailand’s Responses to Conflicts and the Protection of Thai Citizens Abroad » to students from the Schools of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Political Science Student Association at the American University in Cairo (AUC).
During the lecture, the Ambassador highlighted key information about Thailand’s geopolitical and economic landscape, the dynamic relations between Thailand and the MENA region—with a special emphasis on Egypt—and shared real-world insights into the emergency evacuation and protection of Thai citizens abroad during crises. These topics vividly reflected the core importance of diplomacy, demonstrating how it delivers concrete, tangible benefits, particularly in saving lives and safeguarding citizens in times of conflict.
Following the lecture, the Ambassador engaged in a highly interactive Q&A session. The students showed immense interest and raised insightful questions regarding the intricate processes of international conflict resolution, opportunities for bilateral educational cooperation, Thailand’s proactive role within the ASEAN framework, as well as seeking inspiration and practical advice on pursuing a career in diplomacy.
The Royal Thai Embassy in Cairo extends its sincere appreciation to AUC and its brilliant students. We remain committed to empowering the next generation of leaders and strengthening the enduring people-to-people ties between Thailand and Egypt.
