The Russian Embassy in Namibia participated in the inaugural Diplomatic Fair held in Windhoek on October 16–17, presenting Russia’s cultural heritage, educational opportunities, tourism attractions and business activities to the Namibian public.
Organised by Namibia’s Ministry of International Relations and Trade, the event brought together members of the diplomatic corps to showcase the cultures, traditions and economic opportunities of participating countries.
The Russian pavilion featured a broad range of exhibits highlighting the diversity of contemporary Russia. Visitors were introduced to traditional Russian cuisine, folk crafts, tourism destinations and opportunities to pursue higher education at Russian universities. The programme also included presentations by the Russian House in Namibia, which promotes cultural and educational exchanges.
Business cooperation was another key focus of Russia’s participation. A dedicated section highlighted Russian commercial activities in Namibia, including the Wings uranium project implemented by Russian state corporation Rosatom.
The pavilion attracted considerable interest from Namibian officials and the public. Among the visitors was Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, Namibia’s Minister of International Relations and Trade, alongside senior representatives of government institutions, members of Parliament and the diplomatic corps.
The fair provided a platform for diplomatic missions to engage with the public, promote their countries and explore opportunities for cooperation across cultural, educational and economic sectors.
For Russia, participation in the event offered an opportunity to increase awareness of its cultural and academic offerings while drawing attention to its business presence in Namibia.
The Russian Embassy said its involvement contributed to strengthening bilateral cultural and humanitarian ties, underscoring the importance of public diplomacy in fostering mutual understanding and closer relations between the two countries.
