The closing ceremony of the Ethiopian National Dialogue Conference is currently underway, marking the culmination of a 38-day national consultation process that brought together thousands of Ethiopians representing diverse stakeholders from across the country.
The Ethiopian National Dialogue Conference, officially launched on Hamle 8, 2018 E.C., has brought together approximately 4,000 participants for an inclusive and structured dialogue process aimed at addressing some of the country’s most fundamental national issues.
Over the course of the conference, the participants engaged in discussions on eight key agenda items. Through dialogue based on mutual respect, active listening and open exchange of views, the participants deliberated on major national concerns and presented their recommendations to the Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission.
The conference represents an important stage in the national dialogue process, providing a platform for representatives of different sections of Ethiopian society to discuss issues of national significance and seek common ground through peaceful and constructive engagement.
The Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission has facilitated the process with the objective of creating an inclusive forum where diverse perspectives can be heard and considered. The recommendations submitted by the participants are expected to contribute to the Commission’s broader efforts to advance a sustainable and inclusive national dialogue in Ethiopia.
As the closing ceremony takes place, the conclusion of the conference marks the completion of a major phase in the national consultation process, while also laying the groundwork for the next steps toward addressing the recommendations and outcomes emerging from the dialogue.
