Ghana and Saudi Arabia have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral relations, with a particular focus on railway development, energy infrastructure and investment.
Ghanaian authorities held bilateral discussions with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The meeting focused on advancing the longstanding relations between Ghana and Saudi Arabia, particularly through greater cooperation in strategic infrastructure sectors. Railway development and energy infrastructure were identified as key areas for closer engagement.
The two sides also agreed to strengthen cooperation on a range of priority issues affecting the African continent. The discussions come as Ghana prepares to assume the Chair of the African Union, providing an additional framework for engagement between Accra and Riyadh on continental and international matters.
Beyond diplomatic cooperation, Ghana and Saudi Arabia are expected to intensify high-level engagements aimed at expanding investment ties. The objective is to mobilise greater Saudi investment in Ghana and support the implementation of President John Dramani Mahama’s transformative Reset Agenda.
The renewed focus on investment and infrastructure reflects Ghana’s efforts to attract strategic foreign capital for major development projects, while Saudi Arabia continues to expand its economic partnerships across Africa.
The latest engagement underscores the growing scope of Ghana–Saudi Arabia relations, combining political dialogue with cooperation in infrastructure, energy and investment.
