Ambassador Dr. N. Nandakumar was received by H.E. Dr. Ibrahima Samake, Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture of Mali, on 17 August 2026, for discussions aimed at further strengthening the longstanding and mutually beneficial agricultural partnership between India and Mali.
Recalling the successful cooperation between the two countries in the agricultural sector, both sides explored new avenues for expanding collaboration and sharing expertise. Discussions focused particularly on training and capacity building, development cooperation, and institutional collaboration, with a view to supporting Mali’s agricultural development and strengthening food security.
A key area of discussion was cooperation on millets and other ancient grains, which offer significant potential for promoting nutrition, climate-resilient farming and sustainable agriculture. Drawing on India’s experience and expertise, enhanced collaboration in this area could contribute to the diversification of food systems and the promotion of sustainable agricultural practices in Mali.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both sides to deepen India–Mali agricultural cooperation and to pursue practical initiatives that deliver mutual benefits, strengthen institutional partnerships and contribute to food security, sustainable agriculture and resilient livelihoods.
