The training will take place at the Environment Protection Training and Research Institute (EPTRI) in Hyderabad under the ITEC programme of India’s Ministry of External Affairs.
The initiative offers an opportunity for the Tanzanian academic to acquire specialised knowledge and practical skills in solid waste management, an increasingly important area for environmental protection, public health and sustainable urban development.
Through professional training programmes such as ITEC, India provides participants from partner countries with opportunities to strengthen their technical expertise and share knowledge across key development sectors. Environmental management is one area in which such capacity-building initiatives can contribute to addressing common challenges.
Makame’s participation in the programme also highlights the role of academic professionals in promoting environmental awareness and advancing sustainable waste management practices in Zanzibar.
The ITEC programme remains an important instrument of India’s development partnership with countries across Africa and beyond, supporting human resource development and fostering closer ties through education, technical cooperation and knowledge exchange.
The initiative reflects the continued commitment of India and Tanzania to strengthening their partnership through capacity building and cooperation in areas that support sustainable development.
