President Paul Kagame has arrived at the Africa Mindset Reset Forum, joining prominent African leaders and thinkers for a high-level discussion on the future direction of the continent.
The forum brings together H.E. Hailemariam Desalegn, former Prime Minister of Ethiopia and co-founder of the Africa Strategic Group (ASG); H.E. Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Vice President of Ghana; H.E. Thabo Mbeki, former President of South Africa; and Dr. Sidi Ould Tah, President of the African Development Bank.
The leaders are participating in a conversation under the theme, “From Pan-Africanism to Meta-Africanism.” The discussion is focused on how Africa can build on the principles of dignity, unity and solidarity that have shaped Pan-Africanism while developing a new framework for the continent’s next chapter.
The concept of Meta-Africanism seeks to encourage a broader rethink of how Africa approaches leadership, development, education and institution-building. The forum is expected to examine how Africans can shape their own narratives and strengthen the continent’s capacity to define and pursue its long-term priorities.
The participation of current and former heads of government, alongside senior financial and intellectual leaders, highlights the growing emphasis on ideas and mindset as important drivers of Africa’s development.
The discussions are expected to explore ways of resetting how the continent “thinks, leads, builds and educates,” while preserving the values of solidarity and collective identity associated with Pan-Africanism.
President Kagame’s participation adds a significant perspective to the debate, particularly on questions of African leadership, institutional transformation and the continent’s efforts to build a more self-reliant and forward-looking future.
The Africa Mindset Reset Forum therefore serves as a platform for African leaders and thinkers to reflect on the continent’s past while developing ideas for a new era of African cooperation, innovation and leadership.
