Russia and Angola have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their traditionally friendly bilateral relations, with both sides exploring new areas of cooperation and preparing for upcoming high-level engagements.
On August 26, 2026, Russian Ambassador to Angola A.E. Bryntsev presented copies of his credentials to Angola’s Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, E. Mendonça, during a meeting in Luanda.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the two sides to discuss prospects for expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest. Both parties expressed their readiness to further consolidate the longstanding friendly relations between Russia and Angola.
Discussions also focused on key issues related to the future development of bilateral cooperation, including efforts to strengthen the legal and institutional framework governing relations between the two countries.
A major topic was preparations for Angola’s participation in the Third Russia-Africa Summit, scheduled to take place in Moscow on October 28–29, 2026. The upcoming summit is expected to provide an important platform for Russia and African countries to deepen political dialogue and explore new opportunities for economic and development cooperation.
The meeting underscored the shared interest of Moscow and Luanda in maintaining regular diplomatic engagement and expanding cooperation across areas of mutual importance.
The presentation of the copies of credentials by Ambassador Bryntsev marks another step in reinforcing diplomatic ties between Russia and Angola, while preparations for the Russia-Africa summit offer an additional avenue for strengthening the partnership between the two countries.
