We are honored to announce that a treasured piece of Ethiopia’s cultural heritage is finally coming home. Today, at the Ankara Republic Museum, a centuries-old Ethiopian manuscript was officially returned to the people of Ethiopia.
The ceremony, attended by H.E. Ambassador Adem Mohamed and Türkiye’s Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mr. Gökhan Yazgı, marked the formal handover of the manuscript to our Embassy.
During the ceremony, H.E. Ambassador Adem Mohamed expressed profound gratitude to the Turkish government and law enforcement, hailing the manuscript’s return as a victory of international cooperation over the greed of traffickers. He emphasized that this sacred heritage will now return to Ethiopia’s national archives to be preserved for scholarly study and cherished by future generations.
Following the ceremony, H.E. Ambassador Adem Mohamed toured the Ankara Republic Museum, where he viewed historical exhibits and further appreciated the venue’s role in hosting this landmark repatriation event.
